Meet Lily - she's an adorable ten-year old girl from New York who loves to make movies.
Meet Pepin - he's a precocious ten-year old boy from Mexico who is funny and loves to play the piano.
What do Lily and Pepin have in common? Well, both of their parents are divorced, and both of them want their parents to be happy.
So, when Lily and Pepin meet in sunny San Diego, California, the natural thing for them to do is try and get Lily's mother and Pepin's father to fall in love. Simple, right? Easier said than done!
The children are in for a great adventure as they put their "matchmaking" plan into effect. It isn't long before they realize that this is not going to be an easy ride. In fact, it's difficult enough to get their parents to leave their houses, let alone go on a date.
Lily and Pepin must take extreme measures to get their parents to meet and fall in love. They decide to get in trouble with the police, thinking that their parents will have to come get them at the police station, which will get their parents to meet. (Kids, don't try this at home!)
The plan works . . . sort of. The parents do meet, but when they do, they hate each other, and blame each other's child for getting their own into trouble with the police.
Bent but not broken, the kids ask the arresting police officer, Officer Candy (RICHARD HATCH, TV's "Battlestar Galactica") to help them get their parents together. Officer Candy is a playful kid at heart, and cannot resist the chance the help the kids and help two people find true love.
They stage a romantic dinner for the parents to meet properly, but even this fails to ignite sparks.
However, destiny lends a hand the third time and . . . you'll just have to watch the movie to find out how! The Little Match Makers, is a touching and funny movie about two children playing the oldest game in the world - the game of love.
